Lately I've been experimenting with various effects on the guitar. I have to say, delay can be one of the greatest effects ever if used correclty. I'm hooked. Just saying. EHX Memory Boy Deluxe is where it's at.

Whats up world? Just making my yearly apperance, it's about that time. Some random thoughts on a thursday night, sounds good right? Maybe? Maybe not. Either way, imma typing. I think this post is going to be about good and bad things. Everyone has things they like and things don't like, well, I have many of both. So... take it or leave it, "it is what it is", which means absolutely nothing.
Good Things:
American Stratocaster. Why u say? The american part says it all, the quality surpasses all others. Plus it rocks the F out.
Windows 7. Yup, it still rocks. Way cool compared to older versions. Still no blue screens!
Google Android. I sure don't like google's motives, but man, Android sure helps to oraganize a busy life. Watch out iPhone!
Deer Tick. Use your favorite search engine and check it out, soo soo good. It's music by the way, not the erie little critters that dig into your skin.
Pennsylvania. Because it's just that damn cool.
Caliburn. If you develop with WPF like I do these days, it makes life 10 time's easier. And you get to be all cool and in the "now" MVVM.
Zune. Itunes is neat and all, but this is one thing I belive Microsfot has done that is amazing. Music lovers, check it out.
Pbr. Like the guy said at the Gas Station, "Come on Wendy, no one undetr 21 drinks this, it's for a true connoisseur."
Andy Hull. Wow, this guy can write.
Bad Things:
WCF. I just don't like it. I use it, and it makes magic happen in the workplace, but wow, what a headache.
Fakeness. Come on people, be yourself.
TV and Main Stream Media. It's nothing but jibberish, expand your knowdelge and enterain yourself with something else that is real.
Poor Cell Service. Nuff said.
BP. Come one people, you're killing the earth. I may not be a crazy enviro dude, but seriously, this is not good.
Bad Things. I don't like bad things, do you?
Cheers!
Got a tune to write, catch up with ya'll later!

After using Vista since the begining of it's creation and becoming a Mac user this past year and installing Windows 7 this weekend is.... Well... WoW. So far I am impressed. I have sucessfully installed Windows 7 with no driver issues on my macbook, basically without a hitch and it is running suberb, I can't even explain how much quicker it is in words vs Vista. So I'll just say... it rocks.
That's it. I'm a happy Microsoft user tonight.
peace.

Ok, so I said I would post a little bit about some cool programs I've been using since I got my macbook. I really only have 2 to report on right now, but I might do a comparison of Parallels vs VMWare Fusion down the line. But maybe not, those come about a dime a dozen.
Cool application #1 : StreamRipperX
For about 4 years I was supporter and hard core user of Real Rhapsody. It's a service that you pay about $15 a month and you can listen to nearly any album out there whenever you want, no charges per song like iTunes. The past year I've been all about Zune Social, but StreamRipperX might curve that a little bit. Pandora.com, Playlist.com, there are tons of palces you can listen to music for free or for a small monthly fee really.
But... StreamRipperX you ask, what is it? You haven't even mentioned anything about it yet?! Well, here I go, I had to give my props to those other great apps, but this one is free. It's a project supported on sourceforge.net, anyone can download it. It ties in beautifully with iTunes Radio. Basically, find your digital radio station you like on iTunes, drag the station over to the StreamRipperX application and hit play. As you play the stream you can rip it along with any metadata information that comes along with the track saving it into your iTunes library. If you have a large hard drive, I say let 'er rip and be off with your good self. Any duplicates that are played wont be doubled up and you can create a huge playlist with in days of songs you love and maybe some you don't. Either way, you have tunes ready to go with you anywhere! So to StreamRipperX, I cheers to you tonight!
Cool application #2 : Adium
Yet another chat program is the first thing that comes to mind when I downloaded this app. I've used many programs that let you connect up to multiple chat servers. I mean, we all use more than one these days. I myself use about 3. So... something like Adium is a godsend. It can be pretty annoying getting popups from random programs from random people randomly. ha. The seemless integration is very cool, then again, most of these things have that.
The first thing I noticed about Adium is how gorgeous it looks compared to most chat apps that seem cluttered, but then again, this is a mac, and most things just look better than my typical PC world experiences. The custom theming is pretty simple to change up gives your Adium even more character than out of the box. The status seems to work perfect across all services as far as I can tell, which is very nice. If you want to be away, busy, whatever, alive and well, it works like a charm. Lots of messengers i've used have really annoying popups in awkward places that I always turn off right away. The growl notification in Adium is one I actaully left on, you get a little jiggle from you icon dude on your menu bar and a little transparent popup on the top right corner of the screen. Totally out of the way. The chat history is also really nice, it's searchable and so easy to use. you can see the chat history for all of your different chat services all from one place. Comes in handy sometimes to reference things, especially if you use it for work. And lastly, if you go to the Adium website, they have a Xtras area where you can get all kinds of cool little widgets and, icons and other random neat things. All in all, if you have a mac, check it out. Although, chances are, I bet you already have this! ha!
So there ya go, another post and a couple uber-licuos apps to check out!
PEace out.

Thought I would update my blog and website a bit tonight. Looks like I haven't been on here once since I initially set it up! Wow, can't believe that happened, ha right. Ok, so really, this is just my attempt to start blogging. Please bear with me as I ramble on through my thoughts. Summer is almost here, which is great, especially living up in the tundra of WI/MN. Best time of the year to, and , ah-hem, one of the best places to enjoy the the summer in the US. Not to hot, not to humid, just right :) That and time to make my yard shine! Check out the photo section to see my latest update mwuah yard.
Anyways, I joined up with the ranks of the many mac users out there this month. I broke down and bought a MacBook. I have to say, being a PC and Microsoft guy my whole life, this is very refreshing! So far, I am finding it much easier on the eye, richer apps, more responsive, friendly community and kind of a sense of belonging to something great! Plus, being the microsoft guy that I am during the day, I can still run windows with a great application called, Parellels. It may drain on the battery(might I add, the Mac battery is 2-300% better than most windows based laptops!), but hey, I can still plow forward with all things MS when needed.
Ok, so why did I purchase a Mac you might ask if I am such a MS guy. I'm adventuring into new things, programmer by day(and night... ha!) I am getting the itch to dive into a new platform/language. So here I come iPhone! I'm going to leave it at that for now, being I do not want to get into any details. I will hint at one thing.... Unity3D :)
Ok, so here we go. Let's see if I can keep this trend going!
Next up, interesting mac apps to check out.
Peace out !
